Technical work, explained clearly
I have a background in mathematics and a strong interest in practical modelling, automation and data science. Most of my work sits in technical spaces, but I care just as much about making it understandable.
This site is intentionally simple. It gives a straightforward view of the kind of work I do, the tools I use, and a few projects I’ve chosen to share.
MSc Data Science
Birdsong classification using wavelets and deep learning
My MSc project looks at how machine learning can be used to classify birdsong, combining signal processing methods with deep learning to work with real acoustic data.
It sits at the point where mathematics, pattern recognition and practical experimentation meet, which is one of the reasons I enjoyed the topic. Also, birds are nice.
